It’s done. Another exiting, challenging and exhausting also festival is over. This time, I had too much at hands to shot festival photos myself, so I would like to give you the link to the official picture gallery of Psalm 2017 on the festival website. http://styriarte.com/psalm/bilder-psalm-2017/
Many thanks to all the artists, and all the people working backstage. There are only about to two month to the opening of the Styriarte 2017 festival. Me and my lighting colleagues are already in the preparation and preproduction for this long 4 weeks. Especially the horse ballet of “La Margeria” gives us headaches at the moment.
Like i already mentioned in my last post, with my new website http://www.thomasbernhardt.at online now, the content I will post on this blog will slightly change.
I would like to show more backstage information, also about my second profession as a lighting designer in the entertainment industry.
So here I have the pleasure to tell you about a recurring collaboration with one of my favourite clients: The Styriarte in Graz, Austria.
Again, I will work for Psalm, their annual Easter music festival which will happen between April the 9th and April the 17th at the Helmut List Halle, Graz, Austria. (http://www.helmut-list-halle.com/home). I have done a lot of work in this venue over the years, so it’s also a kind of homecoming for me. To know the people, to know the gear to work with, makes live a lot easier during lighting a festival, were you have to expect the unexpected always.
The theme of this years festival is “fruitful” (Fruchtbar in German), and they produced a very nice festival subject:
In my design I will try to follow this intentions as far as possible with the lights, the mood and the colours, despite too much red can get easily too much in a nightclub setting. So to keep the balance there is important.
You can find the program of the festival and a lot of information about the artists and their music here on Styriartes website: http://styriarte.com/psalm/ I will post some shots of the lighting and the festival as soon as possible,
On this side I have created a portfolio serving as a showcase for clients and possible clients for me as a professional photographer.
What does this mean for this blog?
Well, mostly a slight change in the content I will post here. My plan is to give you more of a backstage view in my work, and, other than before, I would also like to post stories and pictures
coming from my “other” profession as a lighting designer in the theatre and the entertainment industry.
So, I will not set myself rules too strictly, what is fitting here or not, instead I will keep it as open as possible, so be surprised.
